In demanding off-road use or with high payloads, substantial drive, braking and lateral forces act on the axle control arms of a Land Cruiser 70/73. If the original rubber bushings have become soft, the front and rear axles can move further from their intended position under load.

This blue 85 Shore A version renews the bushings of the control arms and both Panhard rods. It is designed for high loads and locates the solid axles more firmly than the orange standard kit.

Firmer axle location under off-road loads

The harder polyurethane deforms less under high loads than soft or ageing rubber. This allows the control arms to locate the axles more precisely longitudinally and the Panhard rods laterally.

This is particularly relevant during axle articulation, strong engine braking, high payloads and rapid load changes. The firmer setup can, however, transmit more impacts and vibration to the frame and body.

Installation note

The old bushings must be removed completely and the mounting points cleaned. Use the supplied assembly grease on the specified contact surfaces. Suspension and axle-location work should be carried out correctly, and all fasteners should be checked afterwards.
